DAR American History Essay Contest Winners Honored

BEACON, NY–  The Melzingah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored winners of the American History Essay Contest at their March 11th meeting at the Madam Brett Homestead in Beacon.  First place New York State and local winners were all from St. Mary’s School in Fishkill: Tiffany, Grade 6; Brian, Grade 7; and Mikayla, Grade 8.  Michael placed third place at New York State and first place locally at the fifth grade level.

The contest is open to middle school students to encourage young people to think creatively about our nation's great history and learn about history in a new light. This year’s topic was “World War I: Remembering the War to End All Wars”.
